Heres a fact for you... there are 411 chimneys on Hampton Court Palace (coincidently the bus from Molesey to Kingston is the 411). There are just under 300 Tudor chimneys like the ones in the photo and about 100 chimneys on the Christopher Wren side of the building. Only about 50 of the Tudor chimneys are decorative. These chimneys aren't exactly 'original'. Many were rebuilt and made even more decorative in the Victorian era.

I bet the vast majority of people wandering around the palace never even think to check out the chimneys! i certainly never did...
it's good to see them up close up in pictures (worthy of a display somewhere?)
